Icecap photo shows “mother nature in tears”

Marine photographer and environmental lecturer Michael Nolan captured the pictures while on an annual voyage to observe the largest icecap in Norway Austfonna on July 16. image
He said the image looked just like mother nature in tears, "as if she was crying about our inability to reduce global warming".
'Tears' in the natural sculpture were created by a waterfall of glacial water falling from one of the face's 'eyes'.
Mr Nolan has visited Norway's largest the icecap on the island of Nordaustlandet in the Svalbard archipelago for several years.
"On this trip I was struck myself by the amazing image of a woman's face, a motherly face, crying. Totally natural but very animated because of the amount of melt water running off.
"This is how one would imagine mother nature would express her sentiments about our inability to reduce global warming. It seemed an obvious place for her to appear, on the front of a retreating ice shelf, crying.
"It exactly fits with my image of mother nature, wise to the way of the world, and saddened by it."

What the tourist doesn’t see

I’m a tourism person. I like to see interesting places and take a lot of photos. In every new place you move/travel, it’s good to make some friends, cause they know the coolest places in the neighborhood. The places that tourists normally doesn’t see.

Today I had a great chance to see a place where even most of the local people haven’t been to. As it’s middle of nowhere and roads there are really bad, well, there are no roads, we had to loan a car. A big one :D

As you see from the photo, the place we were visiting was an old hotel. september 002september 023 Believe it or not, but there are people living in some “rooms”.september 009september 016 september 038

And some steps away from the hotel, there is a sea. You can see the cool masterpieces that lava has made.september 048september 057 september 052september 062september 072Need some salt?september 063september 071 I have to get back there as soon as possible, cause I want to explore more of these little pools. There are lots of them. Everyone of them filled with interesting sea life.

I think now you see, why it’s good to have some local friends ;)
